BREAKING: The head of a powerful teacher’s union goes right for Elon Musk’s jugular as he works to eliminate the Department of Education by urging top Tesla investors to revaluate their involvement in the company’s struggling stock.

This is the only language that billionaires understand…

President Randi Weingarten of the American Federation of Teachers — one of the largest unions in America with 1.8 million members — wrote a letter highlighting the “deterioration” of Tesla’s brand reputation.

She also pointed to drops in the company’s stock price, its concerning new financial disclosures, and the growing number of successful competitors in the electric vehicle market.

The letter was sent to the CEOs of six influential asset managers and copied to the Tesla board and Musk himself.

“Given these mounting concerns and the potential material impact on pension fund portfolios, I would appreciate a response detailing your firm’s assessment of Tesla’s current valuation and the steps you are taking to protect AFT members who are your clients and beneficiaries,” Weingarten wrote.

She also took direct aim at Musk, pointing out that he is the reason why so many people are losing trust in Tesla—

“According to the American EV Jobs Alliance, EV swing consumers—those open to EVs once costs drop—view Musk negatively, making customer expansion even harder. Just last week, Stifel analyst Stephen Gengaro declared that Tesla’s net favorability is at an all-time low at 3 percent, down from 9 percent in January 2024,” Weingarten wrote.

According to Weingarten, her union — which represents education, healthcare, and public sector workers — has roughly $4 trillion in retirement security assets. They can wield tremendous power in the stock market when they choose to.

“Every worker deserves a safe a secure retirement. Just this week we saw Tesla stock continue to sink faster than a Cybertruck in quicksand. So we’re asking asset managers to honestly look at their investments in Tesla,” Weingarten wrote on Bluesky.

This could prove to be a tipping point in the battle against Donald Trump’s disastrous agenda. He and Musk want to eliminate the Department of Education so that predatory private companies can swoop in and offer inferior education at inflated prices.

A total privatization of education will also lead to a less educated population (which is good for Republicans since they rely on misinformation and ignorance to win elections) and it will disproportionately hurt the poor who are unable to afford private schooling.

This must be a line in the sand. Either we stand with the teachers or we watch our country enter an intellectual death spiral from which it will never recover.
